You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the play café, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and efficiently, especially in the absence of the owner. This is a leadership role with responsibility for managing the café, the play area, staff, and customer service, all while maintaining a positive and engaging environment for families. You will also be responsible for handling customer inquiries, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring a seamless experience for guests.
In addition to your managerial duties, your role will also include barista responsibilities, serving as the go-to expert for our coffee offerings and crafting quality beverages for our guests. Key Responsibilities:
Day-to-Day Operations:
• Manage the café, play area, and staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Oversee opening and closing procedures, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently.
• Maintain high cleanliness, safety, and organization standards throughout the space.
• Resolve customer issues or concerns promptly, ensuring a positive experience for every guest.
Customer Service:
• Lead by example in providing excellent customer service, making every guest feel welcomed and valued.
• Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback with professionalism and care.
• Create an inviting, fun atmosphere for children and families.
Barista Duties:
• Prepare and serve high-quality coffee and beverages according to established recipes and customer preferences.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized coffee station, ensuring all supplies are stocked and ready for service.
• Provide a friendly and approachable experience to all customers at the café counter.
Inventory & Ordering:
• Manage inventory, placing orders as needed, and ensure stock levels are maintained.
• Monitor and manage waste, ensuring resources are used efficiently.
Facilitating the Business:
• Handle administrative tasks such as managing cash, handling sales, and keeping accurate records of daily operations.
• Assist in planning special events, promotions, or activities for guests, including birthday parties and family events.
Health & Safety:
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations for both the café and play area.
• Supervise the maintenance of play equipment and space to guarantee it is safe for children and families.
• Conduct regular safety checks to prevent accidents and address any potential hazards immediately.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role, preferably in a café, restaurant, or hospitality setting.
• At least 1-2 years of barista experience with a deep understanding of coffee preparation and customer service.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team, provide clear direction, and solve problems on the spot.
• Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stay calm and professional under pressure.
• Passion for working with children and families, and creating a warm, welcoming environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to the success of the business.
• Basic knowledge of cash handling, point of sale (POS) systems, and inventory management.

Compensation:

Job Overview:
As a Part-Time Barista/Party Attendant, you’ll play a dual role in our busy café and play area. You’ll be responsible for crafting delicious coffee beverages, providing excellent customer service, and assisting with parties and events. This is a hands-on position that requires a positive attitude, a love for working with kids and families, and the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Barista Duties:
• Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, espresso drinks, and other beverages to customers.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization at the coffee station, ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
• Take customer orders, offer recommendations, and handle payments accurately using the point of sale (POS) system.
• Keep the café area clean, stocked, and organized throughout your shift.
Party Attendant Responsibilities:
• Assist with setting up and cleaning up for parties and special events, ensuring a fun and memorable experience for guests.
• Greet party guests and help coordinate the event schedule, including food, drinks, and activities.
• Provide excellent customer service, ensuring that parents and children have everything they need for a great time.
• Monitor play areas to ensure safety and assist children as needed during parties.
• Help with party decorations, food service, and maintaining cleanliness during events.
Customer Service:
• Greet and interact with customers in a friendly and welcoming manner.
• Ensure that all customers have a positive experience in the café and play area.
• Answer customer questions about the menu, party bookings, and services.
General Café Duties:
• Help with light cleaning and organizing of the café and play areas during and after shifts.
• Restock supplies as needed, ensuring the café is always ready for customers.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures as needed.
Qualifications:
• No prior barista experience required (but an asset), a willingness to learn and a passion for coffee is essential.
• Friendly, upbeat, and enthusiastic personality with a love for working with children and families.
• Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
• Basic math skills for handling cash and processing transactions.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and responsible.
• Previous experience in customer service, food service, or retail is a plus but not required.
• Must be able to work weekends and occasional evenings (especially for party events).
